Bernard Milstein, 95, of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness, quiet strength, and impish sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Bernie loved making people smile and was famous for his wonderfully corny jokes, which never failed to earn a laugh-or at least a good-natured groan.

Born on September 1, 1930, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Bernie was the son of the late Rebecca (DeLott) Milstein and Maurice Milstein. He grew up in Springfield, graduated from Technical High School, and later pursued studies in Machine and Tool Design. He proudly served his country during the Korean War before beginning a long career as a Tool Design Engineer at Hamilton Standard, where he worked for more than 37 years.

The greatest joy of Bernie's life was his family. He shared 75 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Selma. Together they built a life filled with love in Springfield and later Longmeadow, raising a close-knit family and creating countless cherished memories.

Bernie is survived by his loving wife, Selma; his son, Marc Milstein and his wife, Jill; his daughters, Shelley Milstein and Dianne Wright and her husband, Robert; his grandchildren, Molly Milstein, Hannah Roberts and her husband, Alec, and Suzanne Wright; and many beloved extended family members and dear friends. His legacy lives on in the love he shared, the example he set, and the laughter he brought to those around him.

A funeral service will be held at Temple Beth El, 979 Dickinson St, Springfield, Massachusetts, on Sunday, July 26, at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at City of Homes Cemetery. Shiva will be held on Sunday, July 26, Monday, July 27, Tuesday, July 28, and Wednesday, July 29 at 7:00 pm at the home of Selma Milstein.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Temple Beth El or Rachel's Table.
