Bruce Friedenberg, 77, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on September 19 with his wife by his side.
Born on November 12, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA, Bruce came with his parents Bernard and Ruth (Sosnove) Friedenberg to MA at an early age. He attended Springfield Public Schools, graduating from Classical High School in 1964. He continued his education, earning his BA in English from Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, NH.
Bruce worked in procurement and customer service at various employers in the area. He enjoyed playing golf and fast-pitch softball, and watching the NY Yankees and Giants. But there was nothing he loved more than the ladies in his life - his wife, daughters, and granddaughter.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cecilia (Rebelo), daughter Tracy and granddaughter Adelaide of Springfield, MA, daughter Lori and her husband David of San Francisco, CA, and his brother Mark of East Hartford, CT. He is also survived by his granddogs Max and Red. Bruce also leaves his grandson, who will be making his debut in November.
A memorial service for Bruce will take place on Tuesday, September 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Ascher Zimmerman Funeral Home in Springfield. The family will sit shiva Tuesday evening at the home of his daughter, Tracy, at 925 South Branch Parkway in Springfield, at 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Bruce can be made to the American Cancer Society.
