Bruce Hochberg, 87, passed away peacefully at Glenmeadow Retirement Community on July 17, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on October 2, 1936 in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Solley Hochberg and the late Alice (Orlen) Hochberg. He is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Davida (Popkin) Hochberg and his brother Steve (Hoch) Hochberg. He is survived by his son Steven; son Andrew and daughter-in-law Bonnie; son Larry and daughter-in-law Yvette; as well as his grandchildren Mark, Liza and Julius. He is survived by many loving members of his extended family, including nieces and a nephew. Bruce is also survived by his special partner of the past 14 years, Marie Speiser and her family, Robyn and Mark Winarsky and their children Maddie and Ben; and Lauren and Tal Lebel and their children Zoe and Ellie. Bruce graduated from Classical High School and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He is a member of Temple Beth El and the Melha Shriners. He spent most of his professional career in furniture sales for the Berkline Corporation. Bruce was strongly independent yet possessed an ability to adapt to any situation and find the best in it. He was an avid golfer and a previous member of Crestview Country Club in Agawam, Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, and Indian Springs in Florida. Those who really knew him understood his true nature, that of a caregiver, whether as a spouse, partner, father, grandfather or friend, as well as a devoted son, son-in-law, and brother. Bruce’s love for his entire family was boundless and provided him with an immense sense of joy. He would do anything to help and support them. He also loved a good story and a laugh with his many, many friends and cherished their camaraderie and time together. The family would like to especially thank the Glenmeadow Retirement Community. The family is grateful to Legacy Lifecare Hospice and Healing Hands for their wonderful care and compassion under the most difficult circumstances. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, July 21st, 2024 at Temple Beth El, 979 Dickinson Street, Springfield, MA, with burial at Beth El Cemetery. The Ascher Zimmerman Funeral Home is assisting the family. Shiva services will be on Sunday night at 7:00 pm at the family home in Longmeadow.
