Springfield, MA
Edward Louis Cohen
Born in Malden, Mass, ‘Ed’ attended Brockton High school and Temple Beth Emunah Hebrew School. He studied at University of Massachusetts in Amherst and later studied photography at a community college in Springfield. Ed was an avid photographer making this his full-time career but still leaving time to volunteer at a local radio station where he hosted a jazz show. Edward passed on his passion to others teaching photography in the city of Springfield. He was viewed by many as a “pillar of the community” and a “part of its fabric”. He was a fixture at most community events including performances at the Fine Arts Center. He was a Chamber member. When there were “non-profit fundraisers, ribbon cuttings, celebrations and milestone (events)” throughout the city and surrounding areas Ed photographed “the most meaningful moments” among people that they would want to remember capturing them with “beauty, authenticity and care”. Ed was pre-deceased by his parents, Martin and Diana Cohen and is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth and Kal Faye, Janice Cohen and Linda and Don Cannon, nieces Emmy and Sari, Nephews Patrick and Sam as well as the hundreds of friends and neighbors who loved him.
