Estelle "Lolly" Biegel, 96, died at Autumn Lake Healthcare West Hartford, CT on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Estelle was born on June 10, 1928, in Springfield, Ma, daughter of Edith and Jacob Chase. She graduated from with honors from University of Massachusetts with a B. S. in Microbiology and Bacteriology. After graduation Estelle did microbiology research at Boston University for the US government.
While at UMass, Estelle met her future husband, Howard Biegel. They were married in October 1950. She and Howard enjoyed 56 years of a loving marriage, raising a family, and working together as Howard established Howard's Photo Supply in Springfield. In addition to her expertise in science, Estelle was a gifted artist, and was instrumental in passing on her love of visual arts to her children. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Diane Biegel and son-in-law Dr. Joel S. Pachter of Simsbury, CT. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph D. Biegel, who was married to Naomi Evans in Vancouver, BC Canada. Estelle was a loving grandmother to Eve and Rachael Pachter, daughters of Diane and Joel, and Sara Biegel Evans and Isaac Biegel Evans children of Joseph and Naomi Evans. She was also blessed with great grandchildren, Eric J. Koenigsberg and Danielle L. Koenigsberg, children of Eve and her husband Elliot Koenigsberg. Her funeral was held on August 7, 2024, with burial at Kesser Israel Cemetery.
