Obituary

Estelle Streeter

March 24, 1951 - August 7, 2026

Estelle Streeter (née Kaplan), age 75, passed away peacefully at her home in Westfield, Massachusetts, on August 7, 2026.

Born on March 24, 1951, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Estelle spent her formative years there before attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she earned her bachelor's degree. A dedicated and passionate educator at heart, Estelle spent most of her professional career working as a librarian in the Westfield Public Schools. She had a deep love for children, finding immense joy in guiding young readers to the right books, fostering a passion for reading, and sparking curiosity in every student who walked into her library.

Beyond her career, Estelle lived life with vibrant energy, warmth, and a spirited competitive streak. A die-hard fan of Boston sports, she passionately cheered on the Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox. Her legendary competitiveness shone brightest in her weekly NFL pools-where she was famously known not just for winning often, but for the genuine camaraderie, laughter, and connections the pools brought into her life. Whether joining in card games, gathering around a table, or sharing stories, Estelle cherished the social connections that brought people together.

Her home was always full of growth and music. An avid gardener, Estelle took pride in growing vibrant flowers, bountiful vegetables, and a celebrated, highly-rated herb garden. Music was another lifelong constant; she appreciated all genres, famously attended the legendary Woodstock festival in 1969, and continued her love for live music throughout her life, attending rock 'n' roll and jazz concerts as recently as a few weeks ago.

Estelle is survived by her beloved husband, Roy Streeter; her loving son, Shem Streeter; Shem's wife, Hiedi Streeter; her sister, Ram Rang Khalsa; several sisters and brothers-in-law; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A funeral service open to all family, friends, and community members will be held at time pending on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home, located at 44 Sumner Ave, Springfield, MA. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.

Following the burial, a repast celebrating Estelle's life will begin at 1:00 PM at location pending in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Estelle's honor to The National Kidney Foundation. https://kidneytribute.rallybound.org/inhonorofestellestreeter
