Francine Lenora Resler

February 20, 1937 — February 5, 2025

Northampton MA – Francine Resler, 87, passed away on Wednesday February 5th 2025. Francine was born in New York on February 20, 1937. She was the daughter of James Mucci and Sylvia (Rosenthal) Mucci.
Raised in Brooklyn New York, she was active in Girl Scouts and school activities. Many of the friends she made in childhood remained her friends throughout life. It was through this group of friends that she met the love of her life, Paul, at 16.
Fran graduated in 1954 from high school and her first job was as an industrial diamond sorter. She later worked as a bookkeeper while she waited for her fiancé Paul to return from the Korean War. Paul returned home in 1957, and they married in 1958.
Fran and Paul relocated from Brooklyn to Wantagh NY in 1967 and raised their family in a tight knit community with the friendships made there, remaining throughout their lives. She welcomed everyone into her home and was always ready to feed them. Her snack cabinet was legendary and filled with after-school treats for all. Her spaghetti and meatballs and brisket were unmatched and reflective of her Jewish and Italian heritage. Once her children were older, she returned to work as a bookkeeper.
After retiring, Fran and Paul moved to Massachusetts to be near their grandchildren. While most retirees headed south for warmth she headed north for family. Fran often stated that retiring to be near her grandchildren was the best decision she ever made. She was a constant presence in their lives. They called her Grandy, and she loved to read to them, attend their school functions, hear about their lives and take them shopping. She was infamous for never turning down a dessert, especially when it involved chocolate or ice cream. She lived across from a mini golf course that she would often frequent with her family. You could often hear her exclaim "you were robbed" if someone missed a putt. She volunteered at the local library.
Over the past 10 plus years the cruelty of dementia slowly made her world smaller and smaller and while her memories disappeared, she never lost her caring capacity and was always looking out for others’ wellbeing.
She loved the beach and the ocean (but did not swim), she loved reading, mahjong, card games, mini-golf, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, slot-machines and her family. She was deeply loved by her family and will be missed.
In addition to her parents, Francine was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Paul Resler. She is survived by her children Jeffrey (and Midori) of California and Stacy (and David) Tobin of Amherst MA, and her grandchildren Zachary Tobin (and Katherine Christopher) of Cambridge MA and Kailey Tobin of Ithaca NY.
Francine’s family would like to thank the staff at The Gardens at Rockridge for their loving care of Francine for the past year and a half. They would also like to thank Hospice of the Fisher Home for their compassion and support in the last weeks of her life.
Arrangements were handled by Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to Hospice of the Fisher Home.
