George Kittredge
1937 - 2024
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, George Kittredge passed away on November 22, 2024, at the age of 87. Born in Springfield, MA, on January 28, 1937, to Max and Bertha Kittredge, George was the fourth youngest and last surviving child of his mother's 10 children-9 boys and 1 girl. He carried with him throughout his life a deep sense of family, loyalty, and love that touched everyone around him.
George dedicated much of his career to the family business, Kittredge Equipment, where he served as Vice President. He took great pride in helping clients open their own restaurants, especially pizzerias, which were not only his professional focus but also his personal favorite dining spots. His generosity, humor, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A passionate supporter of Israel and the Jewish community, George made 12 trips to Israel and devoted countless hours to charitable causes that were close to his heart. He was proud to serve as President of Israel Bonds and Heritage Academy, reflecting his unwavering commitment to strengthening ties with Israel and his belief in making a positive impact on the world.
George was an avid tennis and squash player, and he had a lifelong love of simple pleasures, such as driving anywhere for his favorite treat-an ice cream cone, especially from Carvel. His zest for life and his ability to find joy in the little things were qualities that defined him.
George was fortunate to have shared his life with two remarkable women. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 41 years, Marlene Kittredge, and his loving partner of 12 years, Corrine Paston. He is survived by his children, Wendy (Gary) Schnierow, Bonnie (Scott) Morrissey, and Michael (Julie) Kittredge, along with seven grandchildren, who were the true lights of his life: Sydney, Sadie, Casey, Ben, Lexi, Max, and Marley.
In his final years, as he battled Alzheimer's disease, George never lost his spirit. He continued to express gratitude with a "thank you" or make others laugh with a joke, even in the most challenging moments. The family would like to extend a special thank you to our sister Bonnie Morrissey for her unwavering and devoted care during George's last two years, filled with love, regular visits, and plenty of candy.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 25th at 12:30 pm at Ascher Zimmerman funeral home, followed by burial at Kodimoh cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chabad Center of Sudbury, whose care and kindness were a great comfort to George in his final years.
