Harry Azmitia

Harry Norman Azmitia Jr. age 75, was born December 20,1949 in NYC. He lived in Florence, MA

He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a strong minor in mathematics, and a Professional Certificate in Micro Computer Engineering, from Monmouth University.

Before retirement he worked for Hewlett Packard, Dow Jones, and Spaulding Corporation.

Harry was a Vietnam War veteran, assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, also known as "1/9 The Walking Dead." He entered the PTSD program at the Veterans Hospital in Northampton Massachusetts. During the second phase of the program in 2004, Harry for the first time authored a poem entitled "Lost," about an experience in Vietnam. Since 2004, he has authored numerous poems and in 2013 he published his poetry book, Renewal. Harry’s poetry illuminates feelings and desires that stir the heart, soul, and spirit. Within Harry’s poetry, there are glimpses of his personal life, spiritual journey, and wisdom to live an authentic life. The family thanks the Northampton Veterans Center for all they do for the Veteran and their families.

Harry leaves behind his wife, Sandra. They celebrated over 40 years together. They delighted in all that Northampton has to offer, and were dedicated to each other and their cats, Lucky, and Angel. Harry enjoyed many fun filled times with Sandra's children Robert, Michael, and Lisa. He is the brother to Oscar, John, Alex, and Norma. He was preceded in death by his brother Eddy and parents Harry and Magdelena Azmitia.

The burial will take place in the Field of Valor at Crown Hill National Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana. His burial will include Military Honors and will take place Monday February 17th, at Noon.
