In Loving Memory of Joshua Benjamin May (5/25/1971 - 9/14/2024)
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Joshua May, 53, on September 14, 2024, at the Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst, MA, after a short illness. Josh was a beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by parents Carole and Les May, sister Ilana (May) Beigel and her husband Mark Beigel, and beloved nieces and nephew, Amelia, Liza, and Nate. His extended family, including aunts, uncles, and cousins, held him close to their hearts, always admiring his intelligence, kindness, sense of humor, artistic ability, quiet strength, and sensitivity.
Everyone who met Josh remembered his smile, as it was a window into his wonderful self.
He loved making up jokes (some clever, some not so much), had immense gratitude for everyone who helped him throughout his life, was adored by everyone he connected with, and excelled at whatever he put his mind to.
Josh’s family would like to thank Cooley Dickinson Hospice and Hospice of The Fisher Home for their exceptional and compassionate care.
Donations can be made in memory of Josh to Hospice of The Fisher Home, The Cancer Connection, or the Jewish Community of Amherst.
All those who knew and loved Josh are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday, September 18th at 1pm at the Jewish Community of Amherst, 742 Main St, Amherst, MA 01002. Shiva will be held Thursday 9/19/24 through Tuesday 9/24/24 at Carole and Les May’s home in South Hadley, MA. Please contact the family directly for details.
