Obituary

June H Okun

1931 - 2026

June Okun of Longmeadow, MA, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026 at the age of 95. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. June was born on June 28, 1931 to Louis and Ida (Steinberg) Heit.

June was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Okun; her daughter, Sheryl Passo; and her daughter-in-law, Sheryl Okun. She is survived by her son, Gary Okun; her son-in-law, Jeffrey Passo (Eileen). June is also survived by her cherished grandchildren and their families: Jillian Danishevsky and her husband, Steven, and their daughters, Suri and Willow; Lindsey Schoenberg and her children: Sam, Drew, and Blakely; and Lewis Okun and his wife, Hayley Bacon, and their daughter, Charlotte.

June worked in her family's furniture business at Max Okun Furniture and Beautiful Rooms. She was also a longtime member of the Springfield Bridge Club.

More than anything, June's greatest joy was her family. She took immense pride in being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was happiest when surrounded by the generations who called her "Nana" and "Nooney". She cherished her summers spent at the beach in New London, CT, and looked forward to a glass of Shiraz in the evening. Her home was always made brighter by the company of her beloved dogs, Max and Meyers.

June carried the titles of grandmother and great-grandmother with tremendous pride and love. Her family was, and always will be, her proudest legacy.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to June's wonderful caregivers- Chris, Karen, Divey, and the A2 staff at JGS.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Congregation Kodimoh Cemetery on Monday, August 24th, at 11am. Shiva will be that evening at 6pm at the Jewish Nursing Home at 770 Converse St. Longmeadow, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to JGS Lifecare.
