Karen Hartman, born on August 20, 1948, in Brookline, Massachusetts, was called to her eternal home on April 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with pneumonia.
Karen was the beloved mother of three children: Kenneth H. Hartman and his partner Heidi Smeltzer of Holland, Kimberly A. Cole (Hartman) and her husband Robert S. Cole of Southwick, and Heather M. Hartman and her partner David Cooper of Wales. She cherished her family deeply and was a source of unconditional love and quiet strength throughout their lives.
Karen was preceded by her devoted husband, Harold R. Hartman her partner in life and family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Sheila Goldenberg, as well as her sister, Linda Sadowski.
Karen was a proud graduate of Randolph High School, Class of 1966, and earned her degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Bridgeport. She had a lifelong love of learning and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Karen loved living on the lake and enjoying watching the beauty of nature. She was an avid gardener, who found joy and peace in tending to her flowers. She was also a passionate quilter and a dedicated member of a quilting group, where she shared creativity, friendship, and laughter. She was always active and full of energy, Karen enjoyed going to the gym three times a week and found great fulfillment in staying physically active and socially engaged with her friends and loved ones. Karen's legacy is one of love, perseverance, and kindness. She will be remembered for her warmth, her gentle heart, and her devotion to those around her.
A funeral service in honor of her life will be held on Friday, May 2 at Ascher Zimmerman Funeral Home on 44 Sumner Ave, Springfield. Visiting hours are from 9:30 -11:30 am followed by a service at 11:30 am at the funeral home.
She will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield following the service.
