Leah Kardos, age 93, of Longmeadow, MA, passed away on November 8, 2023. Leah was born on June 25, 1930, in Kingston, NY, daughter of Tina and Nick Schwartz. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter Kardos, and her parents. Leah is survived by her children: Glen Friedman (Cindy), Lynn Friedman, and Mark Friedman (Lynette), as well as her grandchildren: Zinnia Friedman, Peyton Friedman, and Talia Friedman. She was predeceased by her stepbrother, Eugene Schwartz of Nevada, and her ex-husband, Arthur Friedman of Cleveland, OH. Leah was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Leah's early years were spent in Kingston, NY and NYC, where she attended Kingston High School. She later pursued higher education at Western Reserve. Leah also had the opportunity to work at various places throughout her career, including Forbes Engineering as an Office Administrator, Rocky's Ace Hardware Main Office, and even spent a year as an artist at Disney after high school. In addition to her professional endeavors, Leah volunteered her time at SeniorNet, MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association), and ORT. However, her most cherished role was being a stay-at-home mom, dedicating herself to raising her children.
Leah had a vibrant personality and a wide range of interests. She lived in Shaker Heights, OH, from 1950 to 1981, where her home became the "go-to" place for her children's friends to hang out. Leah and Peter eventually moved to Massachusetts in pursuit of new business opportunities. She was an avid reader of mystery books and enjoyed knitting and artwork. Leah also had a passion for animals and adored numerous pets, including cats, dogs, and even backyard birds, squirrels, and raccoons. Crossword puzzles were another favorite pastime of hers.
Leah Kardos will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will forever be a blessing.
