Dr. Malcolm Freedman died unexpectedly of heart disease on August 27, 2025 in Springfield, MA. Born in Trenton, NJ, he was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Pennsylvania Dental School, and later in life, a graduate of medical school in Miami, practicing Psychiatry for 25 years. He leaves behind his loving wife Betsey, married 30 years, his son Jeffrey of Boston, MA, his daughter Nancy of Florence, NJ, former daughter-in-law Cindy Freedman of Pembroke, NH, and grandchildren Zoe, Chloe, and Beau. Mal was a dedicated physician, devoted to his many patients. He loved sports and especially discussing westerns and a good bag of chips and a coke. He worked as a psychiatrist at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT and after in West Springfield. A memorial service will be this Sunday August 31st at 11:00 AM at the Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Springfield, MA.
