Margery (Rubin) Frank Slavin died peacefully Sunday, June 23, 2024 in Glen Cove, NY at the age of 96.
Margery was born in Brooklyn, NY to Miriam Cohn Rubin (Tekulsky) and Henry B. Rubin. She grew up in Bath, NY and Allentown, PA and graduated from Cornell University in 1949. She was married to her college sweetheart, Harold B. Frank of Springfield, from 1949 until his death in 1987. They raised their family in Springfield. Margery worked as the Assistant to the Director of the Willie Ross School for the Deaf in Longmeadow for 25 years, until her retirement in 1993.
She is survived by two children, Kathy F. Bernhard (Steven Bernhard) of Port Washington, NY and David A. Frank (Audrey Frank) of Frederick, MD, her grandchildren Joshua Bernhard (partner Abigail Weintraub) of Los Angeles, Jessica Frank (partner Robert Nasman) of Stockholm, Sweden, Alison Bernhard Graham (Shawn Graham) of Vestal, NY, Brittany Noschese (Zane Noschese) of Frederick, MD and Jarrod Frank of Brooklyn, NY. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jett, Ella, Nash and Crew Noschese, Flynn Bernhard, and step great-grandchildren, Sterling and Brentlynn Graham.
Margery was subsequently re-married to Jerome A. Slavin, originally of Springfield, from 1993 until his death in 2005. She is also survived by stepsons William Slavin and Michael Slavin, both of St. Augustine, FL and their families.
The funeral will be held Thursday, June 27 at 10:00 am at Sinai Temple, 1100 Dickinson St., Springfield, with burial to follow at Sinai Memorial Park, 584 Cottage St., Springfield. Shiva will be observed Thursday afternoon and evening at the home of Scott and Wendy Libowitz, 158 Primrose Drive, Longmeadow, MA.
The family requests that donations in Margery’s memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
