Longmeadow — Meri (Somerset) Horowitz, 62, of Longmeadow, MA, died on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Marblehead, the daughter of the late Sherman and Natalie (Resnick) Somerset, she graduated from Swampscott High School, obtained her B.S. in Management and Masters in Accounting from Bentley University and earned her CPA certification.
Beloved wife of Arnold “Arnie” Horowitz for over 30 years. Devoted mother of Mark and Max. Loving sister of David and his wife Marcia Somerset of Salem, MA and Sylvia and her husband Ray Anderson of Mesa, AZ. Doting daughter-in-law of Sara Horowitz and loving sister-in-law to Howard Horowitz and Michael and Debbie Horowitz, and devoted aunt to nieces Maggie Somerset, Erica Horowitz and Samantha Horowitz, and nephews, Justin Somerset, Joshua Horowitz, Zachary Horowitz, Dylan Horowitz.
The job she loved the most was to provide as a nurturing wife and mother. She always put her family first, making home cooked meals daily and baking a variety of delicious desserts. She loved traveling and attending her sons’ sporting events. Outside of family, she valued her girls’ nights out with her close friends and exemplified her love for working out and eating healthy.
She was a member of Temple Beth El.
She was an accomplished and respected director in the health insurance field. She worked for Aetna for 18 years in internal audit and strategy/operations. She served as Treasurer for Coram Deo Recovery and on the Finance committee for Dress for Success.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services at Temple Beth El May 12th at 11 AM. Interment will follow in the Beth El Cemetery in West Springfield. Shiva will continue on Monday through Thursday at 7:00 PM at the family home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be donated to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
