Patricia Ann Sussman
Patricia Ann (Thompson) Sussman passed away peacefully on Sunday August 27, 2023. Patty was born in Lowell, MA on January 26, 1951, to Charles Leo and Marion (Dodge) Thompson. She grew up in Lowell, MA and graduated from Lowell High School in 1968. She received an Associate’s degree from Northern Essex Community College followed by a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts. She married her college sweetheart Stephen Sussman on June 16, 1973 and they settled in Agawam, Massachusetts, just recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Throughout her working career Patty was employed by Litton Sweda, Huntress Electronics, Motorola, and MassMutual. She was a member of Sinai Temple in Springfield, MA, and spent a number of years fundraising to support Sinai’s religious school.
Patty loved traveling, especially cruises, and she rarely missed watching a Red Sox or Celtics game. Mostly, she loved her family and dear friends. She so enjoyed shopping for her granddaughters, and always looked forward to the annual family vacations at York Beach Maine.
In addition to her husband, Steve, Patty will be greatly missed by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth (Joshua) Dolman of Agawam MA, Emily (Marc) Eisen of Avon, CT; her beloved granddaughters, Alexis, Zoey, and Eleanor; her sister Claire Thompson of Westfield; Steve’s brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Lynne Sussman; and her niece Dara and nephew Jacob. She will also be missed by an array of friends and neighbors who enjoyed her sweet and giving nature.
Her funeral service will be held at Sinai Temple, 1100 Dickinson Street, Springfield on Wednesday, August 30th at 11:00 AM with burial at Sinai Temple Memorial Park on 649 Cottage Street in Springfield. Shiva service will be observed on August 30th at 7:00 PM at Sinai Temple. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are welcome to Sinai Temple's Isaiah Fund for the Hungry, or the PKD Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
