Rita (Baskin) Barr, age 93, of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and formerly of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026.

Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Isadore Baskin and Sophie (Hirshowitz) Baskin.

Rita was predeceased by her beloved husband of 71 years, Arnold "Pinky" Barr; her sister, Selma Siegel; her brother, Alan Baskin; and her grandson, Ian Wacks.

She is survived by her loving children, Randy Barr and Victoria (Phil) Wacks. She also leaves behind her three cherished grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as "Mimi": Hollie (Matthew) Kapusta, Joelle Barr, and Stacy (Ethan) Goldberg, as well as three great-grandchildren.

Rita graduated from Holyoke High School and went on to attend business school. Marriage followed, and the newlyweds relocated to Kansas where Arnold served as a pilot in the United States Air Force. At the conclusion of the Korean Conflict, they came back to Springfield, where she raised her family and supported her husband, who was working alongside his brothers at Barr Oil Company and later Republic Oil Corp.

Her greatest passion in life was her family. She also found joy in playing golf, painting, gardening, decorating and many other handcrafts. It was often said that no one could outshop Rita.

A graveside service will be held on April 17, 2026, at Beth Israel Cemetery in West Springfield, Massachusetts.
