Shirley Chain Shepro peacefully passed away on April 22, 2025 in Worcester, Massachusetts. She was born on January 8, 1928 in New Haven, Connecticut to Morris and Anna (Grodzinsky) Chain. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Eugene and Sylvia.
Shirley was happiest making a holiday meal while the whole extended family was at home. She was proud of her work at the Springfield MA School Research Department. When she was very young she slept in the same bed as her loving grandmother, Gitel Leah. Even during her last days, she would sing and share those same lullabies with her family.
She met her husband Marty Shepro and soon married in 1953. She kindly and graciously loved him and her children: Alan and Judy Shepro, Phyllis and David Winer, and David and Wendy Shepro; grandchildren Michael Isaac Winer, Sarah Emily Winer, Sarah Shepro Mielniczuk (Adam), Adam Louis Shepro (Zoë Rosenberg), Jessica Lauren Shepro (Kyle Cullen) and great-grandson Archie Mielniczuk. She also held a lifelong special place in her heart for her nephews Raymond and Jordan, and her niece Jacqueline.
The family is grateful for the tireless compassionate care provided by the staff at Eisenberg Assisted Living and Jewish Health Care.
A graveside service will be held at Temple Beth El Cemetery 350 Kings Highway West Springfield MA on Thursday April 24, 2025 at 12:00 noon. A shiva will be announced at that time.
