January 17, 1935 – April 14, 2025
Amherst, Massachusetts

Stanley Miller, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at the Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst, Massachusetts on April 14, 2025, at the age of 90. He loved being there during his final weeks. In June of 2021 he, and his wife Goldie, moved to Amherst from their home of over 60 years on Long Island, to be closer to family.

Born in New York City on January 17, 1935, and grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Stanley lived a long and creative life rooted in love, music, art, and family. A graduate of Cooper Union, he pursued his passion for art and design, building a career as a graphic artist that spanned decades. He was known for the personalized posters he made for family birthdays and events.

Stanley’s love for music ran deep. In the early 1950’s, he took up the drums. Shortly after that, at a summer resort called Timberland in the Adirondacks, he met the love of his life, Goldie. Their bond endured through nearly 70 wonderful years of marriage until Goldie’s passing in September 2024.

He relished all forms of music, loved the Catskills, Broadway, museums, time spent in New York City for cultural activities, and many wonderful summers in the Berkshires and at Tanglewood.

Stanley found new joy and community in Amherst by joining the Jewish Community of Amherst Klezmer Band. He continued to play with the band up until just a few weeks before his passing.

He is survived by his three sons—Martin, Phil, and Rick, daughters-in-law Brenda, Vivienne, and Laura, five treasured grandchildren—Aaron, Liliya, Isabel, Sam, Shaine (Filip) - and his great-granddaughter, Chivonne.

While not religious, he loved Jewish life. He was an active synagogue member of Temple Beth Elohim, in Old Bethpage, New York, where he volunteered his graphic art skills for many years. Along with Goldie, he received special recognition for their service, commitment and dedication to the temple and to Jewish causes. He was passionate about the State of Israel, where numerous relatives who survived the Holocaust sought refuge after the second World War.
No matter the occasion, he was happiest simply being surrounded by the people he loved. He cared deeply about the welfare of everyone he knew, and he loved gatherings with family and friends.
Within his immediate circle of family and friends, he had few peers when it came to the New York Times Crossword Puzzle (especially Sunday’s) and Scrabble.
A story, his sense of humor, or a joke were never too far from his engagement with others. And very often, when asked how he was, he would respond “Stantastic.”
In his final days, Stanley shared that he had done everything he ever wanted to do in his life and that he appreciated having a family that he loved and who loved him. He will be greatly missed.
