William Fagin

December 8, 1941 — May 4, 2025

William Fagin, a lifelong resident of Springfield and Longmeadow, passed away on May 4, 2025. Bill was born on December 8, 1941, graduated from Classical High School, Class of 1959, and attended Dean College.

Bill was a successful sales rep for Lee Jeans for 27 years. He then joined his brother, Robert, at Meadow Farms Fundraising, founded by their father, Sam Fagin.
Bill was known for his warm, outgoing personality. He valued connections with family, friends, and strangers alike, often inserting humor whenever possible.
He was a member of Temple Beth El in Springfield. He was passionate about cars with a particular fondness for his 1961 Corvette. He cared for several Old English sheepdogs and was active in the show dog community. He enjoyed the beach, living for several years in New London, CT and making frequent trips to Jamaica and Aruba, before retiring in Ormond Beach, FL.
After the death of his son, Neal, in 1992, Bill chaired and fundraised for the Neal C. Fagin Ambulance Fund, which today operates a fleet of 3 Advanced Life Support ambulances for the town of Longmeadow.

He is survived by his partner, Irene Pehr, of Ormond Beach, FL; his brother, Robert (& Andi) Fagin of Palm Beach, FL; his sister, Patti (& Robert) Bassell of Longmeadow, MA; his children: Cheri Barber (& Brigette Mann) of Dallas, TX; Chad Fagin of Charlotte, NC; Chet & Julia Fagin of San Diego, CA; and his grandchildren: Ava & Jonah Fagin and Hadley & Henson Barber.
He was predeceased by his son, Neal; his wife of 44 years, Sandra (Cohen) Fagin; and his parents, Samuel & Rhoda Fagin.

Donations can be made to the Neal C. Fagin Ambulance Fund c/o the Longmeadow Fire Department, 44 Williams St., Longmeadow, MA, 01106.
A graveside service will be held at Beth El Cemetery in West Springfield, MA, later this month. Details will be posted on Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral home’s website:
